Every Design project starts with research. I decided to choose Kinfolk magazine as my design project. Following my research, I was able to begin by jumping into Adobe InDesign. I started by creating the parent page with grids and all items necessary (folio, pagination, etc). Following this, I imported all text and images into my InDesign file. Then I was able to create visually strong layouts according to my brand guidelines. Once I was happy with all the layouts and I had proofread all pages, I was able to export my file.

The exported files were to be able to send them off to print and to create a flat plan for my client. The flat plan I created was not only for the client but for my presentation pitch. Once I had gathered all necessary assets I sent out my magazine to be printed. Every design project begins with research.

I began my project my selecting the magazine Kinfolk to design. I did research into the style guide for the brand. This included finding the brands formula, typography, photography, grids, layout, nameplate, and more. I then put all my findings into a file alongside my created mood boards for the magazine along with dimensions and grid layouts. Following my style guide creation, I went into Chat GPT to create several stories for my magazine; profile piece, letter from the editor, interview, main story, and table of contents.
